Rewards Rooted in Relationships


We’re excited to introduce Crossroads Rewards, the evolution of our former Patronage program and a new way of sharing profits and returning value to our members.

Crossroads Rewards are rewards rooted in relationships, recognizing how members connect, grow, and thrive with Crossroads Credit Union. While Patronage focused on interest earned and paid, Crossroads Rewards take a broader view of the relationship you build with us, including the products you use, your loyalty as a member over time, and the total volume of your eligible deposits and loans.

Youth members now benefit as well, with age‑based Youth Rewards that recognize early connection and support long-term relationships.

Rewards are calculated annually, based on the previous year, and will be deposited directly into your Membership Share account on June 17th, 2026. Once deposited, the rewards portion is yours to use however you choose.

Personal

Who qualifies and which products and services are included in Crossroads Rewards.
To qualify for Crossroads Rewards, you must be a member of Crossroads Credit Union.

To qualify for Crossroads Rewards, you must have a minimum of 3 eligible products with us as of December 31 of the previous year. All accounts must be in good standing.

Rewarding Deeper Relationships.

Members who meet the Membership and Relationship requirements (#1 & #2) may also qualify for bonus rewards based on their overall relationship with Crossroads Credit Union.

VOLUME BONUS REWARD

The Volume Bonus Reward recognizes members with deeper financial relationships at Crossroads Credit Union. To qualify, the combined balance of your eligible deposits and loans must total $275,000 or more as of December 31 of the previous year.

Here are the reward tiers for the Volume Bonus Reward:

*For jointly owned accounts, Crossroads Rewards payouts are distributed equally among all account holders, regardless of contribution.

Example: If two members jointly hold an account with a balance of $275,000, and both members meet the requirements to qualify for Crossroads Rewards, the total Volume Bonus Reward of $250 would be split evenly. Each member would receive $125.

LOYALTY BONUS REWARD

The Loyalty Bonus Reward recognizes long‑standing relationships with Crossroads Credit Union. To qualify, you must have been a member for at least 10 years as of December 31 of the previous year.

Business

Who qualifies and which products and services are included in Crossroads Rewards.
To qualify for Crossroads Rewards, your business or organization must be a member of Crossroads Credit Union.
To qualify for Crossroads Rewards, your business or organization must have a minimum of 3 eligible products with us as of December 31 of the previous year. All accounts must be in good standing.

Rewarding Deeper Relationships.

If your business or organization meets the requirements under Membership and Relationship requirements (#1 & #2) you may also qualify for additional relationship rewards including Volume Bonus Rewards and/or Loyalty Bonus Rewards.

VOLUME BONUS REWARD

The Volume Bonus Reward is based on the total balances across your business relationship with Crossroads Credit Union. To qualify, the combined balance of your eligible deposits and loans must total $375,000 or more as of December 31 of the previous year.

Youth Rewards

Youth members are included in Crossroads Rewards.

Youth who do not meet the regular Crossroads Rewards eligibility requirements will receive an age‑based Youth Reward:

  • Members 18 and under will receive $45
  • Members aged 19–24 will receive $75

Yes. Crossroads Rewards have replaced our former Patronage program.

As our relationships with members have grown and evolved, we recognized the need to evolve how we return value to members as well. Crossroads Rewards are a modern continuation of patronage designed to better reflect the full relationship our members have with us today.

The former Patronage program was based solely on interest paid on loans and interest earned on deposits. Crossroads Rewards takes a broader view, recognizing the entire member relationship including a wider range of accounts, services, and solutions.

This allows us to continue returning value to members in a way that’s rooted in relationships and better aligned with how our members connect, grow, and thrive with Crossroads.

The Crossroads Rewards program and reward amounts are subject to change at any time, without notice. Reward availability, distribution, and amounts are not guaranteed. Crossroads Credit Union reserves the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the program at any time.

The amount you receive through Crossroads Rewards reflects your relationship with us over time. Rewards are calculated based on your relationship with Crossroads as of December 31 of the previous year.

As you connect, grow, and build your relationship with us over time, the value of your rewards can increase.

If you’re unable to see your Membership Share Account in Online Banking, please give us a call and we’ll be happy to help.

At this time, businesses and organizations are unable to transfer their Crossroads Rewards account through Online Banking. To transfer these funds to your business or organization chequing account, please give us a call or visit us in branch, and we’ll be happy to make the transfer for you free of charge. 

Crossroads Rewards are deposited directly into your Membership Share Account mid-June.

Once deposited, the reward portion is fully accessible and can be transferred to another account. 

Note: Business and organizational members can contact our Virtual Branch, use online chat, or speak with an advisor to confirm and transfer their rewards balance and have the rewards transferred on their behalf, free of charge as they cannot be transferred via Online Banking at this time.

The $5 Membership Share remains in place to maintain your active membership and eligibility for future rewards.


*eTransfers are not available from Membership Share accounts.

Crossroads Rewards are deposited into the Membership Share account, but how members see and access those funds depends on the type of membership.

Member statements
The Membership Share account is not visible on member statements, even when the Crossroads Rewards are deposited.

Personal Members
  • The Membership Share account is visible in Online Banking for personal members.
  • Once the reward is deposited, personal members can transfer the reward portion on their own through Online Banking.
Business & Organizational Members
  • The Membership Share account is not visible in Online Banking for business and organizational members.
  • Business and organizational members cannot transfer funds themselves.
  • They must contact us (Virtual Branch, online chat, or visit a branch) to: 
    • Confirm their Crossroads Rewards balance, and
    • Have the reward transferred on their behalf, free of charge.
*eTransfers are not available from Membership Share accounts.

At this time, the Membership Share account is not visible on member statements, and visibility depends on how you access your accounts.

For personal members, the Membership Share account can be viewed in Online Banking, even though it does not appear on printed or electronic statements.

For business and organizational members, the Membership Share account is not visible in Online Banking or on statements at this time due to system requirements.

While you may not see the account listed, rest assured that your Membership Share is active and working in the background to maintain your membership and eligibility for Crossroads Rewards.

If you’d like confirmation of your Membership Share balance or your Crossroads Rewards amount, our team is always happy to help! Contact us by phone, online chat, Virtual Branch, or visit us in branch.

We appreciate your understanding as reporting capabilities continue to be reviewed.

Once your annual Crossroads Rewards payment has been completed, the reward portion is yours to use however you choose.

The only portion you won’t be able to access is your $5 Membership Share, which must remain in place.

When you opened your first account, the $5 Membership Share was deposited to establish your membership with Crossroads Credit Union. This share represents your ownership in the cooperative and is required to keep your membership active.

Your $5 Membership Share remains restricted so that you continue to be a funded member, which is required to receive future Crossroads Rewards payments. As long as your Membership Share remains funded, the rest of your rewards are fully available to you.

If you (or your business/organization) have three chequing accounts, they will count as one eligible relationship toward the product requirement. However, all three accounts will be included when calculating balances for the Volume Bonus Reward.

Joint accounts are included when calculating the Relationship portion of Crossroads Rewards. Each joint account counts toward the product total for the members who own it. (Remember, only one product per product type is counted toward your total product count.)

For the Volume portion of Crossroads Rewards, accounts with joint owners will be paid out in equal portions to each owner of the account. Example: If a couple owns $300,000 jointly, then the payout of $250 will be divided in half for each member. Each member will receive $125.

For the Relationship portion of Crossroads Rewards, one account per product type is counted toward your total relationship count.

For example, if you have two chequing accounts, even if they are different types of chequing accounts, they are considered the same product type and will count as one toward your relationship.

That said, all accounts and balances are included when calculating the Volume Bonus Reward. This means the total balances across all your accounts still matter when determining your overall reward.

Yes, all account balances will be included in the calculation for the Volume Bonus Reward.
Not at this time. 
Due to current reporting and system limitations, we're unable to include Collabria credit cards and Aviso investment products in the Crossroads Rewards program today.
We continue to review the program and its reporting capabilities, and if this changes in the future, we will revisit how these products may be included.  
Some products are not included in the Volume Bonus Reward due to regulatory requirements and potential income tax implications. At this time, this includes registered accounts.

These restrictions help ensure Crossroads Rewards remain compliant and fair for all members.

That said, we’re always looking for ways to evolve and improve Crossroads Rewards. If circumstances or regulations change in the future, we would be happy to revisit how these products may be included.
You can earn more Crossroads Rewards as your relationship with us grows over time. This can happen naturally as you add accounts, use additional services, or work with us to support your savings, borrowing, and day to day banking needs.

Yes!

Youth members are included in Crossroads Rewards.

Youth who do not meet the regular Crossroads Rewards eligibility requirements will receive an age based youth reward:

•    Members 18 and under will receive $45
•    Members aged 19–24 will receive $75

If a youth member meets the eligibility requirements of the regular Crossroads Rewards program, they will receive the regular Crossroads Rewards payout instead, when that amount is greater than the youth reward.

No. Crossroads Rewards and reward amounts are not guaranteed.

The Crossroads Rewards program, including how rewards are calculated and distributed, may change over time. Reward amounts are not guaranteed, and there is no guarantee that rewards will be paid in any given year.

From time to time, the Crossroads Rewards program may be amended, suspended, or discontinued, with or without notice, as part of the credit union’s ongoing review and governance responsibilities.
Yes. Crossroads Rewards payments can change over time.

Reward amounts may increase or decrease as your relationship with Crossroads Credit Union grows and evolves. Changes in the accounts you have, the services you use, and how your overall relationship develops can all influence future reward payments.

This approach allows Crossroads Rewards to continue reflecting the strength and depth of your relationship with us, staying rooted in how you connect, grow, and thrive over time.
Yes. Crossroads Rewards payments are fully taxable.

Any rewards you receive are reported as income for tax purposes. You will receive a T5 for the full amount of your Crossroads Rewards payment.

T5 slips are issued in February of the following year and will be available at that time for your records and tax filing.
To be eligible for a Crossroads Rewards payment, members/businesses/organizations must meet the following minimum requirements as of December 31 of the previous year:

•    You/Your Business/Organization must be a member with a fully funded $5 Membership Share.
•    You/Your Business/Organization must hold a minimum of three eligible Crossroads Credit Union products or services. (Only one product per product type is counted toward this requirement.)
•    All accounts must be active, operated as agreed to, and in good standing.

If these requirements are not met, a Crossroads Rewards payment may not be issued.
